Freefloat handguards are made to cover the barrel and are securely connected to the upper receiver using a steel or aluminum barrel nut. Your handguard accomplishes an array of functional applications in an AR-15 build kit including protecting the shooter's hand from the hot barrel, offering the shooter plenty of space to hold the weapon for maximum control while firing, serving as the installation point for sights/optics, providing additional space for other accessories attached, and also, helping create the aesthetic that you want for your build.

It is recommended that your handguard completely cover the gas system of the AR-15, so please take your gas system length into account when choosing a handguard. About This Handguard: This 7" long Lakota Ops AR-15 Freefloat Handguard features a KeyMod rail mounting system.

Mounting System: The Lakota Ops Handguard utilizes the KeyMod mounting system for easy and solid mounting of different accessories & grips on multiple different positions of the handguard.

Cuts: In order to keep structural integrity intact while still saving weight, slanted cuts were designed into this handguard.

Material Of Handguard: This Lakota Ops "Martlet" AR-15 freefloat handguard is precision CNC machined from a high quality 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum extrusion. This ensures that the handguard will be both extremely light and very strong.

Barrel Nut: The Lakota Ops "Martlet" Handguard has a steel barrel nut made of high-quality steel as well as the necessary mounting hardware.

Finish: To maintain corrosion resistance this Lakota Ops handguard is treated with a Type 3 hardcoat anodizing.
